Zero Fall Campaign
Over the past two years, The Saudi Patient Safety Center (SPSC) has identified numerous fall incidents that resulted in death or severe injuries. This problem is not new, in fact, call lights, checklists, and risk assessments are just a few fall-related interventions that have become well established over time. Despite the improvements made in patient safety through these interventions, the focus on preventing falls needs to change.
In order to raise awareness about this serious yet preventable issue, we launched “ZERO FALL” campaign, which aims to reach quality leaders, healthcare providers, patients, and their families with the aim to improve the quality of patient care and shed some light on this public health concern.

Below are some materials used in the campaign.

Medical Informed Consent Campaign
Medical informed consent is a critical component of ethical healthcare practice. Informed consent refers to the process of obtaining a patient's voluntary agreement to undergo a medical treatment or procedure after being informed of the potential risks and benefits involved. A medical informed consent campaign aims to raise awareness among healthcare providers and patients about the importance of informed consent and the rights of patients to make informed decisions about their medical care. Such campaigns typically involve educational materials and outreach efforts to inform patients about their rights and the importance of asking questions and understanding the potential risks and benefits of medical treatments. By promoting informed consent, healthcare providers can help to ensure that patients are fully informed and empowered to make the best decisions for their own health and well-being.

Your Responsibility

Each member of the healthcare team, including patients, doctors, specialists, nurses, pharmacists, surgeons, and administrators, has a responsibility to contribute to the success of patient care.

Patients must take an active role in their healthcare by asking questions, providing accurate information, and following prescribed treatment plans.

Doctors and specialists are responsible for accurately diagnosing patients, prescribing appropriate treatment plans, and monitoring progress.

Nurses play a critical role in providing direct patient care, administering medications, and advocating for patients.

Pharmacists ensure that medications are properly prescribed, dispensed, and monitored to prevent adverse drug interactions.

Surgeons are responsible for performing safe and effective surgeries and following up with patients to ensure proper healing.

Administrators are responsible for ensuring that healthcare facilities are staffed appropriately, and that policies and procedures are followed to provide high-quality care.

Effective communication and collaboration among all healthcare team members is essential to providing optimal care. Each member has a unique set of skills and knowledge that can contribute to a patient's care. By working together, the team can provide a comprehensive approach to patient care that addresses all aspects of a patient's health. Additionally, each member of the healthcare team must uphold the highest ethical standards, placing the patient's well-being above all else.

In conclusion, the responsibility of each healthcare team member is critical to patient care's success. Patients, doctors, specialists, nurses, pharmacists, surgeons, and administrators all play a vital role in providing high-quality care. Effective communication, collaboration, and ethical behavior are essential to achieving optimal patient outcomes. All members of the healthcare team must work together to provide the best possible care for patients.

Patient Empowerment Digital Campaign

Because the patient is the most important member of the healthcare team, it is essential to empower and involve patients in all their health-related decisions. However, patients still struggle to get the support they need to become partners in care. To make real progress, we need to make patient empowerment a priority.

SPSC launched the patient empowerment digital campaign as an initiative aimed at educating and empowering patients to take a more active role in their healthcare through the use of digital platforms (such as display screens) inside hospitals and health centers to raise the level of patient safety. The campaign may be led by healthcare organizations, patient advocacy groups, or other stakeholders who recognize the benefits of patient empowerment.
