Saudi Patient Safety Center Organizes Emotional Safety Workshop in Collaboration with Hayat Child Association

The Saudi Patient Safety Center (SPSC), in collaboration with Hayat Child Association, organized a workshop at the Center’s headquarters titled “Emotional Safety Is Part of Patient Safety”,” bringing together healthcare leaders, pediatric experts, patient safety specialists, and key stakeholders. The workshop was held as part of ongoing efforts to advance the concept of patient safety by broadening its scope to encompass psychological and emotional well-being alongside physical safety, thereby contributing to safer, more comprehensive healthcare and enhancing the overall experience of patients and their families. The workshop highlighted the importance of integrating psychological safety into patient safety systems and clinical practice, with a particular focus on pediatric care. It also showcased relevant psychological safety initiatives and practices in the Kingdom, explored the four core pillars of psychological safety, and addressed the role of psychosocial screening and supportive care environments in strengthening children’s ability to cope and recover while improving their overall care experience. The workshop also explored opportunities to further integrate psychological safety into patient safety priorities. Participants exchanged expertise and perspectives on practices that support the delivery of more comprehensive, safe, and high-quality care The workshop emphasized the importance of psychological safety as an essential component of patient safety and its role in advancing the quality of care, in alignment with the Kingdom’s healthcare transformation objectives and the aspirations of Saudi Vision 2030 toward a more efficient, high-quality, and people-centered healthcare system.
